Bernhard Aichner (born 1972 in East Tyrol) is an Austrian writer. After studying German literature, he worked as a press photographer for the newspaper Kurier and later as an advertising photographer. His work includes novels, radio plays and stage plays. He is particularly known for the Totenfrau trilogy; before that, he published crime novels featuring gravedigger Max Broll. His books have been translated into 16 languages, and the Totenfrau trilogy was adapted for Netflix and ORF. Aichner has received several literary prizes and grants, including the Burgdorfer Crime Prize, the Crime Cologne Award and the Friedrich Glauser Prize.
