Bernd Schroeder (1944–2023) was a German author and director of radio and television plays. He studied theater and German literature in Munich and worked as a freelance writer from 1970 onward. His work earned him the Adolf Grimme Award and the German Film Award. From the 1990s onward, he published numerous novels, including *Versunkenes Land*, *Unter Brüdern*, *Die Madonnina*, *Mutter & Sohn*, *Hau*, *Auf Amerika*, *Wir sind doch alle da*, and *Warten auf Goebbels*. Together with Elke Heidenreich, he wrote *Rudernde Hunde* and the novel *Alte Liebe*.
