Bernd Pfarr (1958–2004) was a German cartoonist, comic artist, illustrator, and author. From 1978 onward, he published work in numerous magazines and periodicals. He became particularly known for Sondermann, a character whose absurdly melancholic experiences appeared in the satirical magazine Titanic for 17 years, and for his elaborately painted cartoons for ZEITmagazin. In 1998, Pfarr received the Max and Moritz Prize for Best German-Language Comic Artist. He also illustrated numerous books, including works by Elke Heidenreich and the complete Erich Kästner edition published by Hanser from 1998 onward.
