Bernd Gieseking (born 1958 in Minden-Kutenhausen, Germany) began working as a solo cabaret artist in 1990 and also worked as a book, children’s, radio and theater author. He wrote columns for the satirical section “Wahrheit” of the German newspaper taz and created children’s radio plays for WDR and HR. He became known in particular for his Finland books, including “Finne dich selbst!”, “Das kuriose Finnland-Buch” and “Finne dein Glück”, which were published as bestsellers. His other work includes the satirical annual review “Ab dafür!”. Gieseking received several awards, including the Peter Hille Literature Prize. A distinctive detail of his biography is that he holds a journeyman’s certificate as a carpenter.
