Bernd Flessner (PhD), born in Göttingen in 1957 and raised in East Frisia, studied German, theatre and media studies, and history in Erlangen, where he completed his doctorate in 1991. He worked as a futurist at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and as a science journalist, essayist and freelance author. Flessner published crime novels and short stories, nonfiction, travel guides, science fiction, and books for children and young adults. His best-known works include the series “Der kleine Major Tom” and books connected with “Frag doch mal die Maus.” He received the Utopia Prize in 2007; in 2011, a documentary he wrote won an International Corporate Media Award.
