Bas Kast (born 1973) studied psychology and biology in Konstanz, Bochum, and Boston. He worked as a science journalist for publications including Geo, Nature, and the Tagesspiegel, where he was an editor in the science department until 2008. He subsequently devoted himself increasingly to writing. He is known for books including Die Liebe und wie sich Leidenschaft erklärt, Der Ernährungskompass, and Kompass für die Seele. Der Ernährungskompass received the Wissensbuch des Jahres award in 2018. In 2020, Kast published his first novel, Das Buch eines Sommers. Werde, der du bist.
