Barbara Pym

Barbara Pym (1913–1980) studied literature at Oxford and worked as an assistant editor at the African Institute in London. At the age of 16, she wrote the first of her thirteen novels. Her novel *Quartet in Autumn* was nominated for the Booker Prize in 1977.
