Barbara Pachl-Eberhart was born in Vienna and studied flute at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. For nine years, she worked as a Red Noses clown doctor, accompanying sick children in hospitals. After her husband and her two children from a previous marriage died in an accident in 2008, she began processing her experiences through writing. Her books “Vier minus drei: Wie ich nach dem Tod meiner Familie zu einem neuen Leben fand” and “Warum gerade du?” became SPIEGEL bestsellers. Pachl-Eberhart has also worked as an author, columnist and lecturer in biographical and literary writing, and completed training in poetry and bibliotherapy.
