Author · 1 book

B. Traven (1882–1969) was a German writer who died in Mexico. His identity remained disputed for many years; he is now generally identified with the metalworker and trade-union secretary Otto Feige. He is also regarded as identical with the actor and anarchist Ret Marut, the name he used before his literary career. From 1926 onward, Traven published novels and stories often marked by an ironic, satirical and anti-capitalist outlook. His best-known works include The Death Ship, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and the so-called Mahogany cycle. Many of his books were translated into numerous languages and adapted for film.
