Axel Dunker

Axel Dunker (born 1960 in Herford, Germany) studied German and English literature in Frankfurt am Main and Bielefeld, where he received his doctorate under Jörg Drews. His academic career includes a professorship in modern and contemporary German literary history and literary theory at the University of Bremen. He has published studies on literature after Auschwitz and on colonial structures in nineteenth-century German-language literature. His essays also address writers ranging from Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Robert Musil to Arno Schmidt, Thomas Meinecke, and Peter Kurzeck.
