Auguste Lechner

Auguste Lechner (1905–2000) was an Austrian writer. After studying languages at the University of Innsbruck, she turned to children’s and young adult literature after the Second World War. In around 20 to 24 adaptations, she made ancient and medieval legends, myths, and heroic epics accessible to young readers. Her Parzival novel *Das Licht auf Monsalvat* (1956) earned her the Austrian State Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature. Her complete works also received the European Youth Book Prize.
