Astrid Ruppert studied literature in Marburg and subsequently worked for several years in television as a producer, editor and dramaturg. She began writing during an extended period of illness. Her first novel, the Christmas story »Obendrüber da schneit es«, was published in 2009 and adapted for television in 2010. It was followed by works including »Wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann?«, »Ziemlich beste Freundinnen« and »Wenn’s am schönsten ist«. In addition to novels, Ruppert wrote screenplays, including for »Frauenherzen«, »Zweibettzimmer« and »Apropos Glück«. Her volunteer work with refugees, which began in 2015, led to the book »Tee mit Ayman – Im Dialog mit Geflüchteten«.
