Astrid M. Eckert

Astrid M. Eckert is a historian specializing in German and European history. She studied at Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Michigan, and Yale University, and taught at Emory University in Atlanta. Her publications include “Feindbilder im Wandel. Ein Vergleich des Deutschland- und des Japanbildes in den USA 1945 und 1946” (1999) and “Kampf um die Akten. Die Westalliierten und die Rückgabe von deutschem Archivgut nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg” (2004). She received numerous scholarships and awards for her research; among other distinctions, she was awarded the Hedwig Hintze Prize for “Kampf um die Akten.” She has also published articles in the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
