Asta Nielsen

Asta Nielsen (1881–1972) was a major female film star who appeared in around 70 films. In addition to acting, she worked as a director and producer and was also an author and artist. Until the Nazi seizure of power, she was one of the best-known film stars in Germany. She subsequently left the country and declined further film roles.
