Arthur Miller (1915–2005) was an American playwright, author, and screenwriter. He studied at the University of Michigan and began writing plays in the 1930s. His drama *Death of a Salesman* won the Pulitzer Prize in 1949. His best-known works also include *The Crucible*, *A View from the Bridge*, and the screenplay for *The Misfits*. In addition to plays, Miller wrote essays, fiction, and autobiographical works. He received numerous other honors, including the Prince of Asturias Award in 2002 and the Jerusalem Prize in 2003.
