Arno Geiger, born in Bregenz in 1968, is an Austrian writer. He studied German, comparative literature and ancient history in Innsbruck and Vienna, completing his studies in 1993. Before devoting himself fully to writing, he worked as a video technician at the Bregenz Festival from 1986 to 2002. His debut novel, »Kleine Schule des Karussellfahrens«, was published in 1997. His best-known works include »Es geht uns gut« (2005), »Alles über Sally« (2010), »The Old King in His Exile« (2011), »Selbstporträt mit Flusspferd« (2015), »Unter der Drachenwand« (2018) and »Das glückliche Geheimnis« (2023). He received the German Book Prize in 2005 for »Es geht uns gut«. His other honors include the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Literature Prize, the Joseph Breitbach Prize, the Bremen Literature Prize, the Europese Literatuurprijs and the Rheingau Literature Prize.
