Arlette Farge

Arlette Farge (born 1941) is a French historian. She worked as a research director at France’s Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) and as a lecturer at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris. She became known particularly for her work on eighteenth-century history. Her publications include “Das brüchige Leben” and “Lauffeuer in Paris.” She co-edited “Familiäre Konflikte: Die Lettres de cachet” with Michel Foucault and “Geschichte der Frauen. Frühe Neuzeit” with Natalie Zemon Davis.
