Annette Mingels, born in Cologne in 1971, studied German and completed a doctorate on Friedrich Dürrenmatt and Søren Kierkegaard. She subsequently worked as a lecturer and journalist. She published her first novel in 2003, followed by several more novels and a collection of short stories. In 2017, she received the Buchpreis Familienroman of the Stiftung Ravensburger Verlag for her novel Was alles war.
