Annette Krus-Bonazza, born in 1957 in Höxter, East Westphalia, studied history and German in Bochum. She worked as a historian and travel journalist and published several works on the social and cultural history of the Ruhr region. She also studied the Italian language, often directly in Italy. Her guidebook "Kalabrien & Basilikata" was her first title for Michael Müller Verlag, followed by further travel guides.
