Annette Hohberg

Annette Hohberg was born in Schleswig-Holstein in 1960. After leaving school, she moved to Munich, where she studied linguistics, literature, and sociology. She subsequently worked as a journalist. Following her first trip to the Indonesian island of Bali in the late 1980s, she returned there repeatedly. Together with a Balinese cook, she wrote a cookbook; the island, its traditions, and its customs also inspired her to set a novel there.
