Anne Stern, born in Berlin in 1982, holds a doctorate in German studies and is a historian. She initially worked as a teacher and in teacher education, and began writing successfully as a self-published author. She became known for her historical series about the Berlin midwife Fräulein Gold, whose volumes appeared on the Spiegel bestseller list. Her other works include the biographical novel Meine Freundin Lotte, the Das Opernhaus series, and Drei Tage im August, Lindy Girls, and Wenn die Tage länger werden. The first volume of Das Opernhaus appeared on the bestseller list and received the DELIA Literature Prize.
