Anne Serre, born in 1960 in Bordeaux, France, is a French writer. She studied literature at the Sorbonne in Paris and worked for a time as a teacher and editor. Her debut novel, *The Governesses* (*Die Gouvernanten*), was published in 1992. Her work includes novels, short stories and essays; she has also written for the literary press. In 2020, she received the Prix Goncourt de la Nouvelle for *Im Herzen eines goldenen Sommers*. Among her other distinctions is the Prix de la Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca.
