Anne Carson

Anne Carson, born in Toronto, Canada, in 1950, is a Canadian poet and classical philologist. She studied Greek and worked as a classicist. Her scholarly and literary interests include Greek antiquity, Homer and Sappho, whose works she also translated. Her books include the study »Eros the Bittersweet«, »Decreation: Poetry, Opera, Essays« and »Red: Two Novels in Verse«. In 2001, she received the T. S. Eliot Prize for Poetry.
