Anjet Daanje, born in Wijster in 1965, studied mathematics at Utrecht University. She has written novels, short stories and screenplays. Films based on her screenplays received a total of 17 international film awards, including a Golden Bear. Daanje has received numerous literary grants and prizes. Her novel »Der erinnerte Soldat« was longlisted for the Libris Literature Prize and won the F. Bordewijk Prize. Another notable work is »Het lied van ooievaar en dromedaris«.
