Anja Marschall

Anja Marschall, born in Hamburg in 1962, worked as an author and journalist. From 2012 onward, she published mainly historical novels and crime fiction, including the series featuring Inspector Hauke Sötje, set in the late 19th century and centered on investigations in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Marschall initiated Schleswig-Holstein’s first crime-writing prize and edited several anthologies. Before turning to writing, she worked as a childcare educator, press officer, EU project manager in social research, apple picker in Israel, maid in a luxury hotel in London, and kiosk clerk at Hamburg’s Landungsbrücken.
