Angelos Chaniotis

Angelos Chaniotis is a scholar of ancient history. After academic positions in New York, Heidelberg, and Oxford, he joined the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton as a professor of ancient history in 2010. His publications include the global history of Hellenism, The Opening of the World (2019). Chaniotis has received, among other distinctions, the Order of the Phoenix of the Hellenic Republic, the Research Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg, and the Anneliese Maier Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He is also recognized as a specialist in the history of Crete.
