Andreas Weihe (born 1951) studied biology in Kharkov and Moscow and initially worked in the natural sciences, including as a translator and editor. He produced his first literary translations from Russian in the 1980s, including texts by Marina Tsvetaeva. After completing his career in the natural sciences, he returned to translating Russian prose and poetry in 2017. His translations include works by Dmitry Strozev, Andrey Anpilov and Vasily Grossman; he also collaborated with Christiane Körner and Maria Rajer on Grossman’s epic novel Stalingrad.
