Andreas Speer

Andreas Speer (born 1957 in Düsseldorf) is a German philosopher. He studied philosophy, Catholic theology, classical philology and art history, received his doctorate in Bonn in 1986 and completed his habilitation in Cologne in 1994. His academic career included a professorship in medieval philosophy at the University of Cologne and the directorship of the Thomas Institute. Speer was also a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts and worked in academic research and postgraduate education. As an author and editor, he has published extensively on medieval philosophy as well as epistemology, metaphysics, natural philosophy and aesthetics.
