Andrea Wulf was born in India and grew up in Germany. She studied the history of design at the Royal College of Art in London and became known as a nonfiction author and journalist. Her books include The Brother Gardeners, Chasing Venus, The Invention of Nature and Magnificent Rebels. The Invention of Nature, about Alexander von Humboldt, was translated into 27 languages and received several awards, including the 2016 Bavarian Book Prize. Wulf’s writing has appeared in publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian and The Atlantic.
