Andrea Kucharek

Andrea Kucharek studied Egyptology, Near Eastern Archaeology, and Prehistoric and Early History Archaeology in Heidelberg. In 1998, she completed her master’s thesis on the rock chapels of the 18th Dynasty at Gebel el-Silsila. She received her doctorate in 2004 for a study of the Lamentations of Isis and Nephthys in texts from the Greco-Roman period. From 2002 to 2005, she worked as a research associate in Collaborative Research Centre 619, “Ritual Dynamics.” From June 2009, she held a research fellowship from the Gerda Henkel Foundation on ancient Egyptian mourning practices.
