Andrea Karimé (born 1963) grew up in Kassel between German and Lebanese language and culture. She studied art and music education, worked for twelve years as a primary school teacher, and trained in creative writing and storytelling. Since 2007, she has worked as a freelance author, writing primarily books for children. She received the Austrian Children’s and Young People’s Book Prize for “Tee mit Onkel Mustafa” and the Children’s Book Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia for “King kommt noch.” In 2023, she received the Preis der Jungen Literaturhäuser, an award for young readers’ literature.
