Alina Bronsky, born in 1978 in Yekaterinburg, then part of the Soviet Union, is a Russian-German writer. She grew up in Russia and moved to Germany with her family as a child. Before beginning her literary career, she worked as an editor and copywriter. Her debut novel, “Scherbenpark” (2008), became a bestseller, was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize, and was adapted for film. “The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cuisine” and “Baba Dunja’s Last Love” were longlisted for the German Book Prize; the latter was nominated in 2015. Her other novels include “The Grandmother’s Braid,” “Barbara Dies Not,” and “Pi mal Daumen”.
