Alexander Granach

Alexander Granach (1890–1945) was a German-Austrian actor. Born in Werbowitz in Galicia, he studied with Max Reinhardt and became one of the leading actors of German Expressionism. He was particularly known for playing Knock in F. W. Murnau’s film “Nosferatu” and also appeared alongside Greta Garbo in “Ninotchka.” Granach emigrated to the United States in 1933 and died in New York in 1945.
