Alexander Braun

Alexander Braun is a visual artist and art historian. He studied art history in Bochum and Berlin and completed his doctorate in 1996 on the work of American installation artist Robert Gober. Since 2008, he has curated numerous exhibitions on the history of comics, including “Pioneers of Comics – Another Avant-Garde” for the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt and “Comics, Mangas, Graphic Novels” for the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. In 2011, he founded the German Academy of Comic Art. Braun assembled an extensive collection on the history of comics and published catalogs accompanying his exhibitions. He has received two Eisner Awards and the Max and Moritz Special Jury Prize from the Erlangen Comic Salon.
