Alea Horst, born in 1982, has two children. Until 2015, she worked as a self-employed wedding and family photographer. In 2016, she went to Lesbos as a volunteer emergency aid worker. She subsequently worked as a photographer, emergency aid worker and human rights activist for various aid organisations and projects. In 2021, she founded the association Alea e.V.
