Alastair Reynolds

Alastair Reynolds was born in Barry, Wales, in 1966. He studied astronomy in Newcastle and St Andrews and subsequently worked for many years as an astrophysicist at the European Space Agency (ESA). He later became a freelance writer. His debut novel, *Infinity*, established his career as a science-fiction author.
