Alan Parks was born in Scotland and studied philosophy, including moral philosophy, at the University of Glasgow. Before becoming a writer, he worked as a creative director at London Records and Warner Music, where he promoted and managed artists such as All Saints, New Order, The Streets and Gnarls Barkley. His background in the music industry informs his crime novels, many of which are shaped by the atmosphere of the 1970s. His works include *Bloody January*, *Death in February* and *Bobby March Forever*, the first three novels in the series featuring Detective McCoy.
