Alain Silver

Alain Silver was a film producer, critic, historian and author of around 20 books on cinema. His publications included *The Noir Style*, *L.A. Noir* and the *Film Noir Reader* series, as well as volumes on Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra and Katharine Hepburn for TASCHEN’s *Movie Icons* series. He also wrote audio commentaries for DVD editions of film noir classics, including *The Naked City* and *Double Indemnity*. Silver studied film production and critical studies at UCLA.
