Al Gore is an American politician and author. He served as vice president of the United States under President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 2001. In the 2000 presidential election, he narrowly lost to George W. Bush. Gore is also known for his environmental advocacy and his work on climate change. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his environmental work, and won an Academy Award for the documentary film An Inconvenient Truth (2006), which raised awareness of the dangers of climate change. His books include Earth in the Balance (1992), An Inconvenient Truth (2006), and Our Choice (2009).
