Aílton Gonçalves da Silva, born in 1973 in Mogeiro, Paraíba, is a former Brazilian footballer. With Werder Bremen, he won the German championship and the German Cup in 2004. That season, he was also the Bundesliga’s top scorer and became the first non-German to be named Germany’s Footballer of the Year. He also played in the Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04, Hamburger SV, and MSV Duisburg.
