Adam Zamoyski

Adam Zamoyski, born in New York in 1949, grew up in England and studied history and languages at Oxford. He became known as a historian and author of numerous books of history and biographies, particularly on Polish subjects. His works include “1812: Napoleon’s Fatal March on Moscow,” “1815: Napoleon’s Retreat from Glory,” and “Phantoms of Terror: The Fear of Revolution and the Suppression of Liberty, 1789–1848.” Zamoyski came from a Polish noble family whose members fled Poland in 1939 after the German and Soviet invasions.
