Achim von Arnim

Achim von Arnim (1781–1831) was a German author, poet, and publicist of the Romantic period. He initially studied natural sciences and later became a prominent representative of Heidelberg Romanticism. Together with Clemens Brentano, he edited the collection of orally transmitted songs and folk poetry Des Knaben Wunderhorn. His novel Die Kronenwächter is regarded as one of the first historical novels in the German language. Arnim was born in Berlin and died in Wiepersdorf near Jüterbog.
