A. Igoni Barrett was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and is a Nigerian writer. He received fellowships from the Chinua Achebe Center, the Norman Mailer Center, and the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center. His short-story collection “Love Is Power, or Something Like That” was named one of the best books of 2013 by NPR. In 2014, Barrett was included in the Africa39 list of 40 African writers under the age of 40 with notable literary potential. His debut novel, “Blackass,” received the award for the best books of the 21st century from the Chinese Society for International Literature.
