I’m actually in love with this Fear Street series. I love how R.L. Stine created the town of Shadyside, how vividly he portrays the atmosphere and the characters. I love the retro American vibe and the mysteries. It’s not genius, and the stories aren’t always well thought-out, but I still let myself get fully involved without looking for flaws in the plot. I love how every story starts with a mystery, and you only get the solution at the very end. You always think it’s going to be something supernatural, witchcrafty, or ghostly, but in the end each story has a real-world explanation. I’m truly enjoying reading this series. They’re so soft and exciting. I also love how the stories are completely separate yet still manage to intertwine through characters and places. -Spoiler alert- In this particular installment, we find out who killed a boy a year earlier. No one thought it was murder—not even his girlfriend. Everyone believed it was a suicide. But we get to learn the truth. Sometimes you don’t really know the person you think is closest to you. Boyfriends lie, friends keep secrets, and a troubled mind had the nerve to kill someone simply because that someone didn’t approve of him dating his sister. It’s outrageous.
