Reviewed by Matcha Marie 🍵Seine Heimat verlassen um in einem weit entfernten Land ein besseres Leben zu beginnen, gerade in Migrationsländern wie Deutschland oder den USA ist das nichts ungewöhnliches. Genau das macht auch Mỹ, als sie auf Bitten von Khais Mutter in die USA reist um seine Frau zu werden. Leider ist Khai alles andere als begeistert von der quirligen Vietnamesin, die sein Leben und seinen Haushalt auf den Kopf stellt. Ich liebe Hoangs Schreibstil und die Art und Weise wie sie Autismus in diesem Band darstellt, empfinde ich als sehr realistisch. Helen Hoang hat ein unglaubliches Talent die Gefühle ihrer Protagonisten auch aus der Erzählperspektive wahnsinnig gut darzustellen. Mit Mỹs handeln hatte ich des öfteren Probleme und konnte dieses nicht nachvollziehen, außerdem ist sie clever und hat ein schnelles Auffassungsvermögen, versteht aber lange nicht was Autismus ist. Das Ende kam für meinen Geschmack etwas zu holprig und zu schnell.
