The Alloy of Law A Mistborn Novel

By Brandon Sanderson

Format:Hardcover

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, who completed Robert Jordan's bestselling Wheel of Time? sequence, come a Mistborn adventure which combines a heist story, political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action. Scadrial is on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. But the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy still have a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. Like Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can both Push on metals and become lighter or heavier at will. After twenty years in the Roughs, family tragedy forces Wax to return to the metropolis of Elendel. He must put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs . . . Praise for the Mistborn? series 'An engaging and fun romp of a read' RT Book Reviews 'Highly recommended to anyone hungry for a good read' Robin Hobb 'Part Sherlock Holmes, Part X-Men, this exciting stand-alone adventure is full of close shaves, shootouts, and witty banter' Publishers Weekly

Gegen Ende kam endlich, endlich der Sanderson-Vibe durch. Am Anfang war mir die Handlung etwas zu flach, sehr viele dekorative Kampfszenen ... hat dazu geführt, dass ich die alte Trilogie vermisst habe!

Since book four is coming out this month, it’s finally time to catch up, read era 2 up until this point and participate in the hype. It was so different to era 1 - which I loved - not as epic in scope as I would have liked but honestly pretty good in of itself. I thoroughly enjoyed the expansion of lore and all the new uses for allomancy and ferruchemy in an industrialized society that were explored. Even though our two heroes Wax and Wayne sometimes felt a bit like caricatures, I am looking forward to reading how their story will develop in the next installment.

I am amazed about how Marasi's allomantic power was so useful in the end. I also missed Sazed, Breeze, Spook and especially Clubs! So sad that everyone of them is gone. Exited for the next book, because I really want to know how it all connects. Worth reading, but not as good as the first books - or maybe just too different, so it takes time to get into.
