I honestly forgot to write a review for this one… But don’t understand it wrong

I really liked America Singer as a main character—she loves her family fiercely and genuinely tries to hold onto her integrity throughout the competition. One of the stronger parts of the book is how torn she is between Aspen and Maxon; honestly, even I struggled to decide who she should choose. That said, the story does get repetitive, especially with the rebels attacking what feels like every five minutes. Some of the Selected girls fall into predictable “snobby mean girl” roles, and many of the conflicts play out exactly as you’d expect. It’s also frustrating that America risks her standing with Maxon because of Aspen, even though she’s supposed to be fully committed to the Selection process. Her early attitude toward Maxon borders on ridiculous at times. And then there’s the scene where America basically accuses Maxon of trying to assault her—knees him in the groin—and somehow they’re just fine the next day? That moment felt extremely unrealistic and brushed over far too quickly for the seriousness of the situation.
