Reviewed by NaomiEs ist schon 1 Jahr her und trotzdem denke ich immer wieder an Virginia. Schon von klein an musste sie kämpfen, wurde immer wieder ausgenutzt. Ihre Probleme wurden immer nur klein geredet. Mir wurde vieles klar, nachdem ich die Geschichte von Virginia las. Denn es ist nicht nur die Geschichte von Virginia, sondern von Millionen anderer Frauen. Ich musste oft eine Pause machen, denn es ist einfach unmenschlich und herzzereißend, wie viele Frauen es ergangen ist unter den Händen von Epstein und tausend anderen korrupten Menschen die von außen hin eine fast perfekte Fassade aufsetzen. Die Autorin ermöglicht der lesenden Person einen so detaillierten Einblick in ihre tiefste Gefühlswelt, in die Welt einer betroffenen Person von sexuellem Missbrauch, Menschenhandel und den daraus resultierenden psychischen Folgen. Aber auch in ihr Wiederauferstehen und Aufblühen. Virginia Roberts Giuffre ist durch ihre Geschichte eine Betroffene, aber gleichzeitig auch eine Revolutionärin.
Reviewed by NeschanaNobody’s Girl hat bei mir starke Gefühle ausgelöst – vor allem Wut, Fassungslosigkeit und Traurigkeit. Wut darüber, was Menschen mit Macht tun können, ohne Konsequenzen zu fürchten, und darüber, wie diese Machtstrukturen oft geschützt werden. Besonders erschreckend ist die Angst, die so gross ist, dass selbst die Wahrheit auszusprechen gefährlich wird. Ich empfinde es als enorm mutig und wichtig, dass Virginia Roberts ihre Geschichte erzählt und für Gerechtigkeit kämpft. Allein die Tatsache, dass sie nicht alle Namen nennen konnte, aus Angst vor möglichen rechtlichen oder persönlichen Konsequenzen, zeigt, wie real die Bedrohung auch heute noch ist – und wie viel unausgesprochen bleibt. Das Buch macht deutlich, wie komplex Abhängigkeiten, Manipulation und Machtverhältnisse sind. Es zeigt, wie schnell von aussen geurteilt wird und wie wenig Verständnis oft dafür da ist, warum Opfer bleiben, schweigen oder sich nicht „einfach lösen“. Gerade diese Perspektive fand ich unglaublich wichtig, weil sie hilft zu verstehen, wie Angst, Scham, Druck und emotionale Abhängigkeit Menschen an Orte binden können, die von aussen betrachtet unbegreiflich wirken. Gerade im Wissen um ihren Tod wirkt Nobody’s Girl wie ein stilles Vermächtnis, das uns daran erinnert, wie wichtig es ist, Betroffenen zuzuhören, sie ernst zu nehmen und Machtstrukturen nicht zu verharmlosen.
