Reviewed by kittygrimm88My review for Marked by Masks and Secrets by Maggie Sunseri Summary: Marked by Masks and Shadows is the first book in a masked stalker fantasy romance duet featuring a tattooed MMC shadow daddy, hurt/comfort, a soft FMC with buried rage, obsession, possessiveness and unhinged behavior and love written in the stars. This book is a dark romance, so I recommend you check out the trigger Warnings and it ends on a cliffhanger. I enjoyed the plot a lot and even though it is a dark romance it made the reader really think about more theoretical thoughts, like the world views each character has and what they see as right and wrong. The FMC, Evie is written in an interesting way and you can see how she grows as a person and with her views of life and what is happening around her. The MMC, Kylo is also written exceptionally well. He struggles with his growing obsession with the FMC. Even though their relationship moves fast to more steamy, it never seemed to be too unnatural or forced to either of them. Now to The parts that might be slightly spoilerish, but I feel the need to write down and hopefully get more insight in a way or another. The way the turned vampires were portrayed made me think of death eaters from Harry Potter, so I would want to know if the author used them as her inspiration when she created them. Another thing I was wondering about is the Shadows, are they more of their own being with feeling things on their own like pleasure or are they just one part of the person who has them and is using them. Overall I think this book is absolutely 5 stars to read and I can’t wait to read the sequel.
