Reviewed by Silke KuKoMein erster ‚Corona‘-Roman … Der 75-jährige Frank fliegt zur Beerdigung seines ehemaligen Vorgesetzten und Freundes (mit dem seine erste Frau Connie ihn betrogen hat) nach Mailand und ist aufgrund der beginnenden Pandemie gezwungen, im Hotel zu bleiben. Seinem Vorhaben, in dieser erzwungenen Zeit den Komfort des Luxus-Hotels zu genießen und sich mit seinen jäh durch die Beerdigung hochgekommenen Erinnerungen auseinanderzusetzen, wird allerdings ein Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht. Erinnerungen an Connie, an Rachel, seine zweite Frau, Begegnungen mit Menschen auf der Beerdigung und im Hotel mischen sich mit Zitaten aus dem Buch, das Frank gerade liest. Was aus den Menschen, denen er begegnet und hilft, was aus ihm, der letztendlich auch an Corona erkrankt, wird, bleibt offen. Hm …
